Paintings...

" # 1. profound dividing"

First in "The Heavenlies" paintings series, it depicts the profound dividing of the waters from the waters with His voice.

"Fun to paint. It started quietly with grays, then a year later I came back to it and it exploded with glowing colors."

Inspired by Genesis 1

"# 7 ...land appears" The Heavenlies Series

2022 Painted on and inspired by a remote vantage of the Hawaiian Islands.

...where land, sea and sky still flourish in His wonderment.

Genesis 1:9 Oil on canvas.

(Note: the white security strip does not appear on prints)

Triptych - # 2. The Heavenlies Series

"#2 ...and it was so." - The Heavenlies

" # 2. ...and it was so." - The Heavenlies Series

"Painted almost in the dark at the end of a long day, it was fun to let it settle onto the canvas and discover it in the morning." As the end of God's second work day, it depicts His peroration and it was so.

 - Inspired by Genesis 1:7

" # 3 ...exuberant heights" The Heavenlies Series

Third in "The Heavenlies" Series, it portrays the exuberant heights of the waters above the waters in the beginning.

"This painting went through a dynamic growth spurt as it rose from the horizon over several days of painting."

Inspired by Genesis 1

Large oil on canvas

" # 4. beautiful joy" The Heavenlies

Expressing the beautiful joy when "God called the firmament Heaven", this painting is unfinished.

"Painting this refreshes my heart, a pure joy."

Note: The larger the print, the better. The photo image here just can't capture the subtlety of the strokes, but it's depths are quite translucent.

Inspired by Genesis 1: 8

"#5 ...first day - The Heavenlies

Large oil on canvas

"... and the morning and the evening were the first day". - Genesis 5.

2022 - This painting began as an above-the-clouds God's eye view of the heavenlies, however, as with many of these paintings, a different, unexpected but welcome view emerged.

"#6 ...land appears" - The Heavenlies

Large oil on canvas

"Let the dry land appear" - Genesis 1:9 - 10

Prior to an October 2020 trip to the Hawaiian islands, I daydreamed of their magnificent beauty. This soft painting evolved from intentional first attempts. The jagged rocks that were slowly softened and then swept away in a natural letting go and then letting the softened elements, sweet, gentle, and graceful  be revealed.

Please enjoy as you explore its subtleties and experience the sweetness.
